NewDay would like to thank the Healthcare Foundation of LaPorte (HFL) for recognizing the opportunity for growth within the NewDay Foundation and for supporting NewDay through a capacity building grant. The capacity building grants through HFL aim to increase the impact of nonprofit organizations in LaPorte County. HFL offers support through leadership training, computer and technical support, grant writing training, donor software subscriptions and generously share their knowledge of how to manage relationships within a nonprofit effectively. 

NewDay was awarded a $40,000 Health Living grant from HFL in April 2021. These funds have been used for medical bills, prescriptions, living expenses and transportation for LaPorte County cancer patients. NewDay could not assist as many local cancer patients or offer the level of financial assistance we do without the help and support of the Healthcare Foundation of LaPorte. 

Since 2012 the Unity Foundation has entrusted NewDay with distributing funds from the Mosette Levin Trust. The money from this trust is designated to help local cancer patients with any costs related to treatment and recovery of cancer. Some cancer patients must be on chemotherapy medications for many years after being cleared as cancer free. This is one cost the grant from Unity covers.
